On September 18th The World Premiere of the musical TOMORROWLAND will open at The Novaya Opera Theatre in central Moscow.

'Tomorrowland' is a compelling testimony to the indomitable spirit of the people of Moscow. A modern Western-style musical set in 1993, as the political changes in Russia started to make themselves felt, 'Tomorrowland' tells of the unquenchable desire of a young Russian woman, Katya, to take advantage of the new

situation and to make a better life for herself. Her quest, to transform a stolovaya (canteen) into a modern diner restaurant, seems an impossible dream in the turmoil that surrounds her.

Her efforts are complicated by the arrival in Moscow of Merc, a young American in search of Katya, the young woman with whom he fell in love during an idyllic few days in Paris. He discovers that life is not as simple as he imagines and to win back the girl of his dreams means coming to terms with Moscow reality.

This love story, as turbulent and volatile as the Moscow backdrop against which it is played out, provides the inspiration for memorable and dramatic love songs such as "Planets" (worlds apart) and "I Need Your Love". The title song, "Tomorrowland", is surely the anthem for a future the lovers, and all Russia, desire.

'Tomorrowland', is written by Andrew J. Wight, Winston Shaw and Brian de Salvo, with an unforgettable file of potential hit songs composed by Andrew J. Wight. The show is produced by Charles Stephens and directed by John Adams whose impressive list of credits include musical and drama production successes in the UK. The cast is headed by Irina Lindt (Katya) and Jay Marcus (Merc) supported by a wealth of Russian musical actors. Jay comes to "Tomorrowland' having played lead male actor opposite Elaine Paige and Petula Clark in the London production of Lloyd Webber's 'Sunset Boulevard'.

Tomorrowland', is having its world premiere in Moscow on 18th September 1999 and is set to be The Moscow Musical. 'Tomorrowland' is an exciting example of this popular genre, relevant and uplifting, great entertainment for the family, and surely will take a place in the great tradition of excellence in Russian theatre.
